Blue Oakleaf Butterfly

The brilliant blue upperwing of the butterfly stands in complete contrast with the dull brown underside of the wings. The vibrance of the blue is visible only occasionally when the butterfly is in flight or basking in sunlight. However, the Oakleafs are known for their stunning camouflage. While it most often rests with closed wings, the patterns of a midrib, veins and blotched spots, resembles that of a dry decaying leaf.
