A TUSKER’S GRASSLAND

He who roams the grassland with such grace and majesty.

It was the onset of summer when I visited Kaziranga. The dry spell had already cast a wash of golden-yellow through the entire landscape. Elephants waded through the tall elephant grass, making it absolutely picturesque. However unexpectedly, adding to an already dramatic scene, April also happened to be the month that the grasslands of Kaziranga are subjected to controlled burning as an yearly procedure.

While I sat to capture the Elephant’s grassland onto my painted canvas, I couldn’t let go of the stark memory of the blazing fire in the backdrop.
