Hornbills share a unique nesting behaviour. The female hornbill seals herself within a tree cavity during the entire nesting process, and the male makes numerous forays into the dense canopies to gather a platter of varied fruits and figs for the female and the young one. Captured in this artwork, is one such intimate moment wherein the male Great Hornbill (Buceros bicornis) returns home with a juicy red fig to feed the female through a small opening. 

This painting was made for a fundraiser exhibit, ‘Art for Hornbills’, organised by Nature Conservation Foundation (NCF) for their Hornbill Nest Adoption Program in the Northeast. A percentage of sale of this artwork will be contributed for their phenomenal efforts to safeguard the Hornbills and their habitats.
